Hiscott Leads Breakout Performance For Lions At District Championships

Updated on 10/29/2024

The 2024 District XII Cross Country Championships took place on Thursday, October 24th at the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia. On the girls side, Charlotte Hiscott had a career day as she propelled herself into the Girls 3A State Championship with a time of 25:55. Hiscott's twenty-third place finish capped off her best race of the season as she qualified for the state meet, which will be held on November 2nd in Hershey. Hiscott's mark was both a season and lifetime PR. As a team, the Lions finished fifth in District XII. On the boys side, O'Hara was fueled by their young class of emerging runners. The boys team finished in eighth place in the district with an average time of 21:46. While the boys weren't able to send anyone to state championships, their core of underclassmen developed steadily throughout the season and they'll be sure to make some noise in the future. While many of Hiscott's teammates will be using this week to recover before the start of indoor season, Hiscott will be ramping things back up for one final race. The state meet in Hershey is known for having some of the best performances in PA throughout a given year, this is a recipe Hiscott is hoping to capitalize on as she sets her sights on another breakout performance. If the 2024 season was a glimpse into O'Hara's future, then big things are in the offing.

The O'Hara Lions Prepare For Championship Season

Posted on 10/16/2024

As the leaves begin to change color, the O'Hara Lions prepare for championship season at the Belmont Plateau. The Lions are no stranger to racing at Belmont, as they have already raced there four times throughout the season during Catholic League meets. On the boys team, the Lions roster is filled with all underclassmen that flash glimpses of true potential. On the contrary, the girls team is led by dedicated upperclassmen who are looking to leave their mark before their time at O'Hara comes to a conclusion. Both teams are in the final stages of preparation before Catholic League championships on October 19th, followed by Districts on the 24th. Despite not having quite the same roster size as some other teams, the O'Hara Lions will put their best foot forward and look to surprise many. The goal for the Lions is to shine at Districts in the attempt to send individual athletes to State Championships. Coaches Bill Donovan and Kevin Johnston are excited about the opportunity the Lions have ahead of them. Both coaches have been preciously planning a training program to allow for their athletes to peak at the perfect time. Every individual within the program knows that this team is ready for the challenge that lies ahead. The Lions are roaring into championship season and they're ready to leave their imprint.
