Cardinal O'Hara's track and field program is preparing to open their 2024-2025 campaign in a few weeks at Lehigh University. The Lions are coming off a year that saw them run multiple record breaking times. Throughout the 2023-2024 season, the Lions were able to break the school record in the boys 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400. At the state meet last May, the Lions 4x400 finished 2nd in the state, finishing just .07 seconds behind Coatesville High School. With a 3:13.87 performance, the Lions set a new Catholic League record. The Lions were able to send multiple individuals to state championships during the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2024. At the PCL Outdoor Championships in 2024, the girls team for O'Hara finished 2nd in the league. O'Hara's senior class last year consisted of numerous athletes who will continue their track and field careers at the collegiate level. Senior, Logan Maloney, returns for the Lions this year with the hope of continuing to shatter many of the school records he

Fall is in the air around the Philadelphia region, which means high school basketball is right around the corner. In less than a month, it turns to go time for the Lions, who are ready to turn over a new page in O'Hara basketball. O'Hara will kick off their regular season on November 30th when they travel to Abington Heights. While last year contained many exciting points throughout the season, the Lions are hoping this year brings more consistent results. O'Hara's 2023-2024 campaign was highlighted by exciting victories in league play against the likes of Devon Prep and rival, Monsignor Bonner. O'Hara graduated seven seniors in 2024, many of whom were key members of O'Hara's rotation. While some of the faces within their lineup this year may be new, they still possess a ton of talent. Another new face on the sideline for the Lions this year will be head coach, Ryan Krawczeniuk. In the spring of 2024, O'Hara announced Krawczeniuk as the new face of the program. Coach, Ryan Kr

Last year marked the return of wrestling for Cardinal O'Hara High School. After a short hiatus, the wrestling program kicked off their unofficial inaugural season in 2023. O'Hara's first season back was filled with numerous bright spots including a top six finish in the Catholic League and a top seven finish in the district. O'Hara's 2023 squad included multiple twenty match winners and regional tournament qualifiers. Coach, Tom Shull, has his sights set on creating a program that is successful both on and off the mat. While Shull wants his athletes to win matches, he also wants his athletes to succeed in life. “Life tests us all in so many ways that the athletes that are able to embrace those challenges and persevere, will come out stronger not only physically, but more importantly, mentally.” (Tom Shull). On the mat last year, the Lions finished the regular season around the .500 mark, a huge success for their program. A focus for Shull and his staff has been continuing to expand the

O'Hara traveled to Monsignor Bonner last Friday, November 8th, to face the Friars in the PCL 4A Final. Despite a strong second half comeback, the Lions fell 28-21 to their cross-town rival. After a rocky first half, the Lions went into halftime down by three scores. When the Lions returned to the field for the third quarter, they came back a brand new team. O'Hara silenced the crowd in the third with a long tone-setting drive that got the Lions on the board for seven. After getting in the end zone for their first score of the night, the O'Hara defense turned up the intensity. Before halftime, O'Hara's defense struggled to get off the field without giving up points. Halftime adjustments proved to be exactly what the Lions defense needed, as they came out of the locker room a completely different unit. The Lions defense took the field as a unit that was totally in sync from the front seven all the way to the DBs. Despite outscoring the Friars 21-7 in the second half, the first half hole

Over the last several years, Cardinal O'Hara's swim team has established themselves as one of the most consistent programs within the PCL. Last year marked a season filled with lots of individual and team successes. O'Hara's boys team took home a third straight PIAA District XII Championship in 2023-2024. At District XII Championships last year, Jason Kutufaris and Brady Turner took home first place finishes for the Lions. Kutufaris was the individual champion in the 200 Free, while Turner took home gold in the 500 Free and the 100 Backstroke. These performances at Districts secured them with bids to state championships in their respective individual events. The boys also sent three relays to states as well. At state championships, Brady Turner became the first O'Hara swimmer to place at the state meet in over two decades, with a fourth place finish in the 500 Free. With Turner being just a sophomore, he'll have plenty of time to start shattering some of O'Hara's program records. As a

The Lions finished the year with a record of 8-10-1, finishing in third place in the Catholic League. O'Hara had a trio of girls play their way to an All-Catholic team this season, including Maddie Fagioli, Kara McLaughlin, and Tori Pagliotti. Fagioli and McLaughlin were first team selections, while Pagliotti was a third team selection. The good news for O'Hara is that two of their three All-Catholic performers will be returning next year, as Fagioli will be going into her senior season while Pagliotti enters her sophomore season. The team was led for a second straight season on the sidelines by Hailie Fosbenner. In both of her first two seasons with the Lions, Fosbenner has helped O'Hara make a strong run in the Catholic League playoffs. The boys team finished in eighth place in the district with an average time of 21:46. While the boys weren't able to send anyone to state championships, their core of underclassmen developed steadily throughout the season and they'll be sure to make some noise in the future. The term "excellence" shouldn't be thrown around lightly, however the girls basketball program at Cardinal O'Hara has earned the right to call their program one of the best around. Since 2020, the Lions have won three district titles, one Catholic League title, and three state championships. As a whole, the girls basketball program at O'Hara has won nineteen PCL titles and ten District XII titles. Over the past several years, O'Hara has sent numerous players to Division 1 schools like Richmond, Drexel, and Fairfield.  In 2021 and 2022, O'Hara won back to back 5A state titles. Since then, they have moved up to 6A, the highest classification in Pennslyvania. The higher level of competition didn't faze the Lions though as they won the 6A title in 2024. The Cardinal O'Hara Lions had yet another successful season in 2024 after coming off a PCL Championship in 2023. In 2023, O'Hara went undefeated in the Catholic League, then ultimately used that momentum to propel them to a Catholic League Championship. In 2024, the regular season was much of the same as the Lions went undefeated in regular season play. O'Hara's regular season consisted of three sweeps in Catholic League play, with those victories coming against Archbishop Wood, Little Flower, and Archbishop Ryan. Coach, Patti Fitzgerald, led another season for the Lions along the sideline. During her time at O'Hara, Fitzgerald has been able to successfully create a program that is prided on her ability to develop talent. After an undefeated regular season, O'Hara was set to play Archbishop Carroll in the Catholic League finals. In the beginning of the season on September 12th, O'Hara and Carroll faced off for the first time in 2024. Both teams battled

The Lions of Cardinal O'Hara will close out their regular season on October 25th against the Crusaders of Father Judge. 2024 marked the first year of play for the Lions in the red division of the Philadelphia Catholic League. The Catholic League's red division consists of many of the best high school football teams in Pennslyvania, including powerhouses like St. Joe's Prep, La Salle College High School, and Roman Catholic. In 2023, O'Hara had one of their best seasons in recent memory, going 5-2 in PCL play, and finishing 7-5 overall. The Lions set a new standard within their program last year, a standard they looked to carry into 2024. The man in charge of that turn around, Coach Mike Ewing, was awarded the Catholic League Coach of the Year in 2023. Before league play began in 2024, O'Hara started the season strong winning four of their first five. O'Hara got their first win of the season with a quality performance against Archbishop Wood, b

O'Hara and LC faced off just five days prior to this playoff match up, a game that saw LC squeak out a 1-0 win. Despite another valiant effort by the Lions, Lansdale Catholic was able to edge out O'Hara once again for a well fought 3-2 victory on Wednesday. This loss marked the end of O'Hara's 2024 campaign. The Lions finished the regular season 8-12-1 before taking on LC in the Catholic League playoffs. 2024 marked a new era of O'Hara girls soccer. In 2023, the Lions finished fourth in the Catholic League, led by a superb senior class of eleven. After losing double digit players to graduation, O'Hara looked to retool in 2024 with a new group of young athletes. Throughout the season, the young Lions showed much promise, including multiple double digit wins against Penn Wood and Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast. Playing within the Philadelphia Catholic League is no easy task, despite the difficulty of their competition, O'Hara stood tough in many league match ups. Through the many ups and downs that a season provides, coaches Dave Cornish and Alyssa Spiotta provided stability for their young lineup. This season provided many new Lions an opportunity to get a taste of what varsity level soccer feels like within the PCL. Over the course of the season, it became very clear that many of the Lady Lions were progressing in the right direction. O'Hara ended
