The Lions had a weekend to remember at the Church Farm Wrestling Tournament with 3 podium finishes from Kevin McCarthy, Matt McCarthy, and Israel Smith. Senior captain, Kevin McCarthy, set the tone for the Lions by winning his weight class. Not to be outshined was McCarthy's younger brother, Matt, who finished 2nd in his weight class. Israel Smith captured a bronze finish in his weight class as well. Despite dealing with numerous injuries throughout their roster, the Lions continue improve and show promise. The Lions have a few regular season matchups left before they start to prepare for the championship portion of the season. Hopefully the Lions will be able to use the next few weeks to get some of their key wrestlers back into the lineup healthy. O'Hara has their final home regular season matchup on Wednesday, January 15th, as they host Devon Prep in their home finale.

Cardinal O'Hara has moved to 2-0 in PCL play after a narrow 67-64 win over Archbishop John Carroll on Sunday, January 5th. The Lions opened conference play last Friday night with a 12 point victory over Archbishop Ryan. Junior guard Milak Myatt has led the way for the Lions on the offensive end of the floor, with sophomore big man Malik Brown setting the tone on the other end of the floor. Brown's long arms and length near the rim has sent numerous opponents packing without a sniff of the rim. Brown is currently averaging just under 2.5 BPG. Myatt currently leads the Lions in scoring averaging just a touch under 17 a game. Behind the arc, guard Jack Quinn is shooting a whopping 46% from deep. Other key contributors throughout the season include guards Lymir Green and Tygee Clark, both of whom are averaging over 6 PPG. The Lions are off to a blistering 8-2 start out of the gates. The Lions will have a huge test at the end of this week as they host St. Joe's Prep on Friday, January 10th.

After a rocky first half, the Lions went into halftime down by three scores. When the Lions returned to the field for the third quarter, they came back a brand new team. O'Hara silenced the crowd in the third with a long tone-setting drive that got the Lions on the board for seven. After getting in the end zone for their first score of the night, the O'Hara defense turned up the intensity. Before halftime, O'Hara's defense struggled to get off the field without giving up points. Halftime adjustments proved to be exactly what the Lions defense needed, as they came out of the locker room a completely different unit.
