Lions Conclude Season With Tough Loss
Updated on 11/07/2024
O'Hara concluded their 2024 season this past Tuesday, November 5th, with a tough loss to Mount Saint Joseph's Academy in the first round of the PIAA State Playoffs. The Lions finished the year with a record of 8-10-1, finishing in third place in the Catholic League. O'Hara had a trio of girls play their way to an All-Catholic team this season, including Maddie Fagioli, Kara McLaughlin, and Tori Pagliotti. Fagioli and McLaughlin were first team selections, while Pagliotti was a third team selection. The good news for O'Hara is that two of their three All-Catholic performers will be returning next year, as Fagioli will be going into her senior season while Pagliotti enters her sophomore season. The team was led for a second straight season on the sidelines by Hailie Fosbenner. In both of her first two seasons with the Lions, Fosbenner has helped O'Hara make a strong run in the Catholic League playoffs. Over the course of the season, the Lions battled through ups and downs, with three double-digit victories being the highlights of their season. A 10-0 win on September 23rd against Archbishop Ryan acted as a catalyst for the Lions to turn it up a notch, as they finished the year 8-3 after that victory. Despite their season ending with a loss, the Lions felt an abundance of satisfaction knowing they made the state playoffs. While the door may be closed on the 2024 season, there's still much to be excited about within the program moving forward. The best is still on the horizon for O'Hara as they begin to look towards next year. The Lions are ready to make 2025 their year!
Lions Prepare For Prendie
Updated on 10/21/2024
On Monday, October 21st, the Lions of Cardinal O'Hara will travel only five miles down the road to take on the Pandas of Prendie. The stage is set for a huge match up in the Catholic League Semi-Finals between these rivals. The third seeded Lions will come into the contest looking to play spoiler to the higher seeded Pandas. While Prendie may have got the best of the Lions earlier in the season, this is a different O'Hara team they'll be facing in the semi-finals. After a slow start, O'Hara has found their form during the second half of their season. The O'Hara Lions are winners of five straight, and seven out of their last eight. During that span, O'Hara has bested their opponents by a total of thirty-three goals. Since the calendar has turned over to October, the Lions have yet to lose a contest. During Catholic League play, O'Hara finished the year with a record of 6-2, just one game behind the Pandas. O'Hara comes into this game with intentions to avenge not only an early season loss, but also their playoff run from a year ago. After going undefeated in Catholic League play during 2023, the Lions lost a heart breaking contest in the Catholic League finals to Archbishop Carroll. While O'Hara may not be the odds on favorite to win the Catholic League this year, they come into championship season with a lot to play for. The Lions will look to learn from past spoils in order to succeed in the present. These Lions have a chip on their shoulder, and they're ready to make a statement.
