Lions Close Out Season With Tough Loss
Updated on 10/18/2024
The O'Hara Lions entered this past Wednesday's PCL First Round match up as the tenth seed, as they traveled to take on the seventh seeded Crusaders of Lansdale Catholic. O'Hara and LC faced off just five days prior to this playoff match up, a game that saw LC squeak out a 1-0 win. Despite another valiant effort by the Lions, Lansdale Catholic was able to edge out O'Hara once again for a well fought 3-2 victory on Wednesday. This loss marked the end of O'Hara's 2024 campaign. The Lions finished the regular season 8-12-1 before taking on LC in the Catholic League playoffs. Throughout the season, the Lions totaled two different win streaks of at least three games, including one that got them out to a 3-1 start to open the season. During that three game span, O'Hara outscored their opponents by a combined score of 17-2. O'Hara dealt with many obstacles throughout the season due to a high volume of injuries in their squad. The Lions had to quickly adapt to the mantra of "next man up" in order to keep pushing forward. O'Hara's 2024 squad consisted of a healthy mix of both upper and underclassmen. Despite the imminent loss of graduating seniors, O'Hara's younger athletes should be able to replenish the talent pool for years to come. Other notable wins in PCL play consisted of an 8-0 shut out against Neumann Goretti and a 5-0 win against rival Monsignor Bonner. On the pitch, O'Hara was guided by coach Chris Rodzewich for a sixth consecutive season. Moving forward, O'Hara will look to develop their younger talent and strive to get better year by year. Every new year marks the opportunity to get slightly better, which is what the Lions will aim to do in 2025. Even though 2024 ended on a tough note for O'Hara, the best is still yet to come.
